After spending the better part of the evening celebrating David Cooley’s birthday at the Abbey, along with seemingly half the cast of Dancing with the Stars. Kevin and I strolled across the street to say hi Marco, and some other WOW crew members celebrating wrapping on RuPaul’s Drag Race at Micky’s. Thankfully Thairin managed to snake my camera away as soon as I got there, and took the initiative to get some snaps.
While a barrage of people were clamoring for photos with diamond-crowned queen Raja, Ongina’s take on country stole the show in my opinion. Taylor Swift would have been proud.

Saturday’s Brutus seemed to be especially packed. Typically line around corner status is reserved for the beer bust on Sunday. But given that Mario Diaz and Chris Bowen were at the helm of this ship, you had the feeling that blokes would get wind of the going ons of the evening.
Aside from the usual suspects, including my friends running things behind the scenes at Randy Blue, there were some special folks amongst the clientele. It’d been some time since I’d seen notable WOW persona, and all around great guy Thairin Smothers, so it was good to catch up. Also on hand to bring the artistic level up were Franc Fernandez & Casey Spooner. While I get to casually run into Franc, I don’t think I’ve actually seen Casey since his Fischerspooner at Paramount Studios. All in all it was quite the night.

This past Friday night brought Job Site, and with it a hang out session with care bears as so dubbed by Diana Coney, Stephen Horbelt & WOW‘s own Blake Jacobs. While there was some aggressive competition in the deep throat contest, I really have to say the highlight of my night was the newly installed punching bag. We definitely had a good time with that.

Last weekend culminated with Trannyshack LA presented by Cody Bayne & Heklina herself, and while we don’t get to partake in the fun as often as those in San Francisco, the antics that ensue every so often at the Echoplex more than make up for it’s infrequency. Using the term shit show is putting it lightly, especially when the incomparable Fade-Dra opens the show.
In addition to some SF regulars like Lady Bear and Ambrosia Salad, LA staples Detox and Rhea Litre’ also graced the stage, or in some cases intentionally sullied it. And speaking of grace and stage, NY royalty Sherry Vine killed it during her special appearance; and yes it was filthy.
To name names, in typical Trannyshack style, the VIPS were in attendance, including current Drag Race contestant Raja, also known as a man as Sutan Amrull, James St. James (with camera crew on-hand), and tranny-chaser extraordinaire Mario Diaz amongst others. If you like men who dress up as women with an artistic twist, this was the place to have been Sunday.

World of Wonder held their annual Holiday party at what was formerly known as Les Deux. RuPaul provided the tunes for the evening and the guest roster included Chloe Sevingy and Whitney Port. Excellent times with the company folk.

The tranny train pulled into town from SF last weekend, and as would be expected the shenanigans ensued. ‘Circus’ would be an adequate word to describe the series of events from past Friday evening. Heklina and the other ladies from the bay joined forces with Cody Bayne (@codybayne) and a few familiar LA performers to put on a show that can only be rivaled by few.
The highlight of the evening was legend Kembra Pfahler’s performance – after seeing her I can now fully understand why so many performers look to her referentially for influence. It was also good to see the fun, friendly faces like Lina Lecaro (@L_in_A), Mario Diaz (@mariodiaz), & Nacho Nava (@mustachemondays), amongst others.
In addition to the onstage entertainment, World of Wonder’s (@worldofwonder) drunk Damiana was on hand to conduct some interesting interviews. The full Daily Freakshow episode will likely be up shortly, but you can view images from the night right now. Check below.

As you may have already realized, I missed the Bear invasion of Summer Tramp this past Sunday. Aaron (@AaronJayYoung) was on hand to capture all the moments, and from looking at all the photographs of my friends, I’m quite disappointed at the amazing time I missed. Good friends Daisy O’Dell (@daisyodell) & Chris Bowen, amongst others, were on hand to dish out the hits, while Jefferson Hendrick handled hosting duties. Fellow RB photog Tiffany Yee (@yeet) also came out to play with a few of our mutual friends, only adding to how crushed I am I missed this fete. If I could have been in 2 places at once, trust me, I would have done so on Sunday. Andres sure does know how to throw one helluva party.
Only part aspect I’m glad I missed out on was wart on society, Perez Hilton’s appearance. He makes me shudder, but glad James St. James and the WOW crew snagged an interview. I look forward to the Daily Freak Show segment boys!
