The best way to start every month is at Akbar for Mario Diaz’s Full Frontal Disco. This party is off the hook bananas and seriously hangover inducing. The midnight performance showcased the return of Ryan Heffington and the crowd swallowed that shiz up like a pill popping housewife. The night got fuzzy by 2am for sure. God Bless Alka Seltzer and greasy breakfasts.

442/ FULL FRONTAL

2011_05_28
The dance party that bares it all showed us his goodies again! And they were amazing. Mario Diaz played ringmaster to the full house of clubgoers. As always, the fashion was on point, everyone was giving their best discotheque realness. The statuesque dancers on the boxes always provide the visual sex and Saturday was no exception. DJs Slash Fiction and Nelstar had the bodies on that dance floor f***ing bumping. The cherry on top of this ooey, gooey, melting sundae was the performance by Ryan Heffington’s Lady Boys of Sweaty Sunday.
These gents had the crowd screaming with their fly, fly, fly moves. If you loved what you saw, be sure to check out their recital June 9-11 & 17-18.
You gave me all you had FF, but I want more!

386/ FULL FRONTAL DISCO

The rain couldn’t keep all the people away from Akbar. It was packed with both glamorous and casual east-siders alike celebrating the 2-year anniversary of Full Frontal Disco. With Mario Diaz running the show, the crowd was soaked in sweat and glitter by the end of the night. Lots of FFD favorites like Ryan Heffington were there to join in on the festivities.

110/ DIVE INTO FUBAR!

The same night I also swung by total sweetheart Lina Lecaro’s book signing at La Luz de Jesus. She’s a great writer and a talented photog herself, so anything she does I’m totally down for. The crowd was eclectic, and the store was something that seems to have been spawned from one of my dreams – so amazing. Though I have yet to read the entirety of the book I have read some excerpts, and if there is one lady who can be the authority on all bars, not just dive, in LA – it is Lina.

69/ FULL FRONTAL

When else do you hear disco music echoing through the streets of Chinatown? On the last Saturday of April, the Grand Star Jazz Club was packed early with a hip, eastside crowd joined by the hot westside boys that like to play downtown. The gentlemen of Sweaty Sundays treated guests to two outdoor performances as well. Wearing some rugged, Brokeback Mountain-inspired outfits, the first group gave their folksy, modern performance to America’s A Horse With No Name, with Full Frontal Disco’s Mario Diaz joining in as well. The second was a glamorous and fierce number led by Maurice Harris. Maurice’s enchanting yellow fan was a most appropriate accessory for a night out in Chinatown.

63/ BIG TOP B-DAY BASH

I had been excited about KCT’s birthday party for a while now, not only because she’s one rad individual but also the style she brings to performance and events is unmatched by many. Upon walking into the Alexandria I could immediately tell where the party was, the noise alone was a dead on indicator, easily overpowering that of the Down-N-Out. The circus theme was taken rather literally, as my sea of friends were decked out in warped circus costumes that seemed to have derived inspiration from the likes of Hunter S. Thompson & Warhol amongst others. The birthday girl was delightful as usual and the tutu dress she was wearing was coveted by all women in attendance. Gorbel’s didn’t stand a chance, as my friends took over the whole room, and I wouldn’t have expected anything less. Anyone who intended to come down for a simple drink was swarmed by the big top decadence, and from the looks and their faces they were loving it. BTW, Miss Barbie, pink definitely works for you.
