527/ THE LOT

2011_09_11
Who says summer ends after Labor Day? Tank-topped studs congregated at the MJ’s parking lot for Sunday Funday at Cody Bayne’s party THE LOT. A whorde of DJ’s including Phyliss Navidad and Josh Peace took turns keeping the crowd going all day long. We were treated to a special performance by HIGH FASHION and their troupe of renaissance collared dancers. The Trader Joe’s shoppers next door didn’t know what they were missing.

515/ STARRF*CKER SUMMERTRAMP

2011_08_28
Last Sunday afternoon was spent carousing Summertramp to assist with the Starrfucker booth. If you’re going to have an event with the name tramp in it, it’s only fitting that Jeremy Lucido and company would be involved.
Ongina had some Daisy’s glued to her petite head and chest, while others managed to achieve manifestation of both the extremes of fashion do’s and don’ts – Vice Magazine would be proud. Friends, fun, and extreme amounts of alcohol being ingested, what better way to say goodbye to summer.
PS – purchase the latest issue of STARRFUCKER MAGAZINE here.

467/ RAUNCH

2011_06_29
With the help of Josh Peace, Jeremy and I christened Raunch’s move to Wednesday nights. While we’re still at our home, the Faultline, we brought in some new sluts to keep things interesting; and that they did. With Gogo Eddie hollering on the mic and encouraging everyone to take piss shits, I’m fairly certain he was talking about the drink specials, the raucous crowd spent the evening drinking and dancing.
I’m already super-pumped for the next installment.

RAUNCH RETURNS

One week from today, Jeremy and I will resurrect Raunch at the Faultline on our new night. For those of you haven’t kept track, we’re going from the last Tuesday of the month to the last Wednesday. The party for people with good taste exhibiting bad behavior is ready to get sleazy for you once more. With a special set by one of our LA favorites Josh Peace, and Gogo Eddie serving as ringleader of the shenanigans we’re destined for a good time. Oh, and there will be hand-picked slutty gogos, how could one forget.
With a filthy Grease reference serving as the catch-phrase of the night, blame Jeremy, you’ll be sure to enjoy this warm summer night. See you Wednesday.

460/ THE LOT

2011_06_19
Though the concept of a parking lot party isn’t exactly new, Cody Bayne managed to re-imagine it in a fresh manner. Taking over MJ’s last Sunday, in a space specific typically designated for stripper changes and sordid activity, the space was re-imagined as a playground suitable for a variety of sub-specie of hipster. The perfect place for the polysexual enthusiast to enjoy the latter half of their Father’s Day; with a variety of DJs and fellow hosts with whom I’ve been in many a compromising position with there was destined to be shenanigans in the air, and trust there was.
Word is this isn’t The Lot’s last stand.

439/ GAGA HAUS PARTY

2011_05_25
think Lady Gaga has a new album coming out. Lucky for us, the Belasco Theater (also known as the new home of Mustache Mondays) had the privilege of hosting one of five different nation-wide listening parties for BORN THIS WAY (available on iTunes, apparently). In addition to avoiding a potential cluster-fuck had the party been set in WeHo, the event planners (Party Monsters?) should be commended for keeping the party 21+. To gain entry, one had to show proof of purchase of Born This Way. So technically, the cover ranged anywhere between $0.99 to $14.99+, making this the first party I’ve been to with a sliding cover charge determined solely by intelligence.

424/ MUSTACHE MONDAYS

2011_05_09
After taking too long of a break from Monday nightlife in favor of sleep and television, I decided that a trip to my favorite downtown polysexual party was past due. Combining the best in music and fashion, while maintaining a an eclectic mix Mustache Mondays is a must attend if you’re in from out of town and have a taste for the sickening. The good sickening that is.
After Kiki hit the stage, the evening quickly degenerated into a walk off MC’ed by the incomparable Fade-Dra. So yeah, it was amazing.

DIAMOND CROWNED QUEEN

While it seems to be the current trend for freshly famous reality show contestants to release singles that rely heavily on the effects of auto-tune (think Housewives), this is not one of those occasions. Though fresh off her win on RuPaul’s Drag Race, Raja (Sutan Amrull) has been around the block and has ability to produce something proper.
With a taste level nothing short of sickening the anticipation for a listen was already high when news broke of her impending song release, but after learning that the production team was comprised of Josh Peace and Eddie Amador
the release date couldn’t have come fast enough.
“The intention behind the song was to give the world a real taste of Raja. Not some typical RuPaul imitator, but someone with his own vision and own flare for style, fashion and music. It is intentionally aggressive and quite sexual in nature. Just like his performance on Drag Race, his music will be anything but typical.” – explains co-producer, Josh Peace
With hypnotic beats and Miss Kitten feel it seems that the new queen on the block achieved her goal, that being “music to fuck to! Or listen to at the gym. Or music to fuck to at the gym!” Sex, it’s what’s for dinner.
A listen after the jump.

343/ MUSTACHE

2011_01_31
After taking too long of a break from the downtown treasure that is Mustache Mondays, I returned this week to experience the splendor. With my boo Nina McNeely having an installation setup in the patio, it was a personal can’t miss evening for me.
As is typical with Nina, her piece didn’t disappoint and was appropriately fashionable and interactive; infusing some art into an already cultured party. In addition to the Mustache crew, Nacho, Joshua, Ashland, and Danny, there were many mainstays in the audience and some faces I was surprised, but happy to see. Namely the rather handsome faces of Derek Monteiro and Garrett; they do give good face.
