A Night of a 1000 Dollys to celebrate Dolly Parton’s upcoming LA concert. Fade and Lady Bear came as Dolly. Lots lots of Gays and the music was good. Everyone seemed to have been making out with everyone else.

It’s that time of the month again, when Lady Bear descends upon the southland and terrorizes the patrons of the Eagle with unique and delightful sensibilities. With the closure of the San Francisco branch, she now has more aggression to take out and booze to drink at ours; and it shows. Chris Bowen kept the tunes spinning proper, though I was sad to not see Victor Rodriguez at his side. I’m just assuming that he was somewhere else fabulous, and with that thought I’m pacified.
An evening with Mrs. Bear is always a good time.

The Eagle was packed as usual for Chris Bowen and Victor Rodriguez’s monthly party Cub Scout. The warm weather meant a new record was set for amount of chest hair on display. Former Andy Warhol muse Holly Woodlawn held court as the subject of an “impromptu” silent film by artist and Critter Control friend Niko Solorio. DJ Ken Vulsion of Honey Soundsystem fame joined in on the festivities, taking turns with Chris and Victor in the DJ Booth. Lady Bear and Phyliss Navidad provided some much needed beauty to the ruff and fuzzy crowd.

While I was celebrating the birth of Ongina at MJ’s, Jake was handling the business at the Eagle for Critter Control’s monthly camp-out Cub Scout. Lady Bear brought out her extra special red weave to bring in the new year appropriately, that is with a bang. I’m told there were some other noises as well, including several thuds.

While Heklina and crew were busy taking over the Ace, the gentle otters of Critter Control unleashed Lady Bear on the gays of LA. While the boys provide the decor and music, Mrs. Bear truly owns the party – in fact I’m feeling that we should seriously rethink about calling it The Lady Bear Experience. Very glad that we’re allowed to have at least a monthly fix of this Lady.

After grabbing some dinner at Forage with Riley, we headed over to the Eagle for the first Friday furry sensation known as Cub Scout. It seems that the west side has heard about the fun going on monthly, as there were several new attendees including Woody Woodbeck – who was more than elated to see Sam Sparro was also hanging out. As always, it was crowded and filled with friends – it was great to see Travis and Alessio outside of the Folsom bubble from the weekend prior.

134/ CUB SCOUT

Last night when an Eagle regular asked me what the theme of Cub Scout was, I wanted to reply that it was “for the little bear in all of us,” but that felt rather inappropriate. Though there were cubs, bears, otters, and other variations of hairy men as per usual, the hipsters outnumbered – well, I’m counting the hairy hipster hybrid in that number, just so you know. The gentle-furs of Critter Control turned it our in typical disco infused fashion, and every one was rather messy by night end, well except for those that were very messy by midnight. Good times for all! And though I was waiting for Mr. Goodbear, he never came – damn.
