While Heklina and crew were busy taking over the Ace, the gentle otters of Critter Control unleashed Lady Bear on the gays of LA. While the boys provide the decor and music, Mrs. Bear truly owns the party – in fact I’m feeling that we should seriously rethink about calling it The Lady Bear Experience. Very glad that we’re allowed to have at least a monthly fix of this Lady.

After grabbing some dinner at Forage with Riley, we headed over to the Eagle for the first Friday furry sensation known as Cub Scout. It seems that the west side has heard about the fun going on monthly, as there were several new attendees including Woody Woodbeck – who was more than elated to see Sam Sparro was also hanging out. As always, it was crowded and filled with friends – it was great to see Travis and Alessio outside of the Folsom bubble from the weekend prior.

Last night when an Eagle regular asked me what the theme of Cub Scout was, I wanted to reply that it was “for the little bear in all of us,” but that felt rather inappropriate. Though there were cubs, bears, otters, and other variations of hairy men as per usual, the hipsters outnumbered – well, I’m counting the hairy hipster hybrid in that number, just so you know. The gentle-furs of Critter Control turned it our in typical disco infused fashion, and every one was rather messy by night end, well except for those that were very messy by midnight. Good times for all! And though I was waiting for Mr. Goodbear, he never came – damn.

Fridays we typically have coverage at a couple events, Martin was at MJ’s for our regular coverage of Fresh Meat Fridays, where DirtyBurty invaded with Shangela in tow. The excitement was a little too much for some, as I heard the someone got a little sick in the middle of the dance-floor – deal breaker. Other then that, Shangela killed it with the costume changes, and the dancers were hot, as always.

Last Friday the anniversary party for Frontiers Magazine was held at the Factory and I was on-site to capture it all. It was great to catch up with editors I hadn’t seen in a while and meet other staff. I fully support the magazine and am honored to continually be featured in their nightlife section. Once in a great while, the stars and Critter Control align, and Cub Scout happens to occur in the same weekend as Bears in Space. This weekend, happens to be one of those momentous occasions. Expect to have a blast with these fashionable furries as you dance the night away to top notch tunes spun by the Critter Control masterminds, Victor and Chris. Though we may be low on actual bears, there’s more than enough fuzz to go around. & as always, we’ll be handling the photo coverage – see you then.
