FOSTER THE PEOPLE / PUMPED UP KICKS

I heard this song on the radio a bit earlier, and it instantly became my song of the day. On occasions like this I’m glad I don’t listen to my iPod all the time.
After a quick google search I realized that they’re a local LA band and playing Detroit Bar in Costa Mesa on Monday the 31st, as well as Coachella this April. If you can make it to the show on Monday I’d highly advise it, and recommend getting some mexican at Alejandro’s located in the same strip mall. I used to live across the street, and when we we’ren’t having ridiculous parties we’d hit up both locales.

Check them hurr.

60/ COACHELLA AFTER-DARK

After staying in on Friday night, simply due to being plumb tuckered out I was itching to to get out and hit the town on Saturday. The first stop was at the Ace for Victor Rodriguez’s Children of the Sun Coachella After Party. I arrived too late to see my boys in Critter Control do their thing but managed to catch Steven Hawley mid-set. The music was mind-blowing and the carnival decor in the Amigo room really camped it up – the free vodka didn’t hurt things either. A bit after 1AM it was Tim Sweeney’s turn to turn it out. I had a blast with what seemed to be 1/2 of the Gay LA Eastside.

58/ THE MUSIC LOUNGE

While many seem to be sick of the word Coachella, as can be evidenced by the twitter updates of yesterday – I’ve still got to provide my recap of Friday thru Sunday. My days were spent at the Music Lounge @ the Indioa2i2. The house was amazing, and the musical talent, both performing and just coming through to hang out was top notch. Two words: Andy Rourke.
The Diesel brunch on Saturday definitely brought out some A-list talent as well. Little Boots DJ’ed while Rosario Dawson and Penn Badgley came by for a drink and a munch. Shoshana Bush also came by on a few days and she was a delight, just thought it should be mentioned – very sweet girl. & while I can continue to talk about the party, I could just provide evidence, check below.

57/ FILTER KICKOFF

About to leave to see LCD & Jay Z, yes I’m late but I’m staying across the street -and before I leave just wanted to post some photos from last night’s VIP Filter Magazine Kickoff party. This event has now become a tradition for many Coachella-goers & for good reason. While the DJ roster was impressive enough to have the likes of Jokers of the Scene & Them Jeans, the crowning achievement of the night was the surprise headlining set by Devo. Yes, DEVO! I arrived late – in seemingly typical fashion, but like many stayed past the original 1AM end time. When I arrived back at the casino, post-cab ride, I was greeted with hipsters tailgating in the parking lot – the official sign that Coachella has now begun.

55/ PRE-COACHELLA WEEKEND

To begin with please excuse the construction as I transfer over from blogger to wordpress. I don’t intend to create a mess, it’s just something that comes naturally to me.
The weekend before Coachella was jam-packed with events. It was good practice for what is likely to be a pleasantly overwhelming weekend. First off, after being on-set all day I stopped by Cody Bayne’s art opening at Skingraft. I’ve seen photographs of his work, typically on facebook, and to see the pieces in person proves that the photos due them no justice. I highly recommend stopping by before May 5th when the show comes down – do it!
