Halloween weeknend started off with a bang, or several bangs rather at the Well & Aaron Castle’s joint A Night of Halloween. With party-goers needing to call into a get the address for the parking lot, to then be told where the warehouse was located upon their arrival, I felt a strong nostalgia for the nineties in the best possible sense. Several acclaimed DJs along with surprise guests including Lvis1990 provided the jams for the hipster polysexual elite. The costumes were interesting, the tunes were dirty, and the cops came; definitely a success.

Monday brought a Marie Antoinette inspired Hi-Fashion takeover of Mustache Mondays. Now returned to La Cita, all the creatures of habit and just plain creatures were out to carouse and cause problems of the minimal nature. Hi-Fashion’s Jen and Rick provided a fresh take on the classic french protagonist, which I thought couldn’t be resuscitated properly in a pop culture context after Kirsten Dunst butchered the role. But if anyone can do the impossible, it’s these two. The performance was a spectacle to behold, as about a dozen dancers monopolized the floor, including my boo Mario Diaz. Given the fun I’m more than willing to let Hi-Fashion takeover anything, no questions asked.

This party at Grand Star Jazz Club had so much awesome stuff to offer! Not only was Juanita More hitting the decks hard, it was also the release of a favorite gay quarterly ‘zine JIMMY! Editor and Chief Jimmy Vogel played the part of the proud, but humble papa. Phylis Navidad was the beautiful hostess of the night. Another fabulous face soaking up the maternity was the ever-glamorous Gregory Alexander. My personal favorite was the serve, serve, serving being
done by DJ Trident! All in all it was one sexy Mother!

think Lady Gaga has a new album coming out. Lucky for us, the Belasco Theater (also known as the new home of Mustache Mondays) had the privilege of hosting one of five different nation-wide listening parties for BORN THIS WAY (available on iTunes, apparently). In addition to avoiding a potential cluster-fuck had the party been set in WeHo, the event planners (Party Monsters?) should be commended for keeping the party 21+. To gain entry, one had to show proof of purchase of Born This Way. So technically, the cover ranged anywhere between $0.99 to $14.99+, making this the first party I’ve been to with a sliding cover charge determined solely by intelligence.

If Friday night was indeed the end of the world, we went out in style. Celebrated by bringing the sinners and saints of LA to The MEZZ downtown for Critter Control’s Brown & Serve. Cody Bayne served as honorary judge for the the monthly runway walk offs, with Miss Rude Ness taking the title of Miss Brown & Serve for May. Victor Rodriguez and Chris Bowen switched off playing eclectic house music and some warm crescent rolls to the funky crowd. If you haven’t stopped by yet, this is a MUST for the sheltered weho socialite, as you can see how the other side of LA does couture GAY.
