603/ VANDAM

2012_02_12
Vandamn. NYC weekly Vandam at Greenhouse (the “organically conscious” club) provided ridiculously good visual interest Sunday night. Maybe the grass on this coast is greener, but my first assignment in the
City got me especially hype. So thankful for JUANITA MORE, my fellow West Coast transplant; her delicious beats had the children entranced until the wee wee hours. Fashion Week spillover, familiar faces, and
gyrating B’East Coast bodies made this packed throwback of a festa one to remember. Oh yeah, weenie and dogs came out, too. SERVE GOTHAM, SERRRVE!

585/ FULL FRONTAL DISCO

2012_01_07
It was another packed night for Full Frontal Disco at Akbar on Saturday night. Mr. Diaz always knows how to make sure everyone is having a good time and is thoroughly entertained. A midnight performance kept the crowds spirits high, and partying hard until last call.

584/ CUB SCOUT

2011_01_06
The gang was in full force at Cub Scout, with friendlies and familiars out and about getting the new year started right with just barely a week since New Years Eve. The night is never complete without at least one picture of Cody Bayne flicking off the camera.

576/ FULL FRONTAL

2011_12_03
People raided their closets on Saturday night for their most eye-grabbing garb to showcase at the very hedonistic Full Frontal party in Silverlake. Host Mario Diaz provided some saucy entertainment and hard hitting disco courtesy of DJ Slash Fiction. The midnight performance from Nina McNeely and her companion sparked an erotic vibe that the crowd quickly caught on too and indulged. It was a hangover guaranteed and morning walk of shame kind of party for sure.

571/ RUNWAY

2011_11_26
Lightning has struck twice! RUNWAY pulled off a successful sequel this weekend at Circus Disco. The eclectic crowd has grown in size and saturation. The much hyped Amanda Lepore performance was an exhibition of her glamour and self-indulgent music. As usual Amanda was not shy in showing off the marvels of her “fully functional vagina,” and incredibly petite body (39-23-37!!)

568/ RUNWAY

2011_11_19
Inside a group of LA’s most eclectic and manicured men, women and in-betweens, have amassed a crowd that mimics the English blitz kids of the early 80′s (think Boy George) and the dance embellishments of LA’s own krumpers and clowns (think LaChapelle’s “RIZE”). But these kids do it with their own funk and grace that sets them apart from any other club scene I have been to in my 26 years in LA. I fully believe, that if we embrace this event and this scene, we have a brand new New Romanticism on our hands. The creators of Runway have intelligently gathered not one name, but over 10 of the most recognizable and interesting faces of young gay LA.

565/ MARCO MARCO

2011_11_16
The best way for a fashion designer to celebrate a site re-launch and a new collection is to invite one’s friends over their studio and have a party, booze included. I use the designation best since that’s what my boo Marco Morante did earlier this evening.
