439/ GAGA HAUS PARTY

think Lady Gaga has a new album coming out. Lucky for us, the Belasco Theater (also known as the new home of Mustache Mondays) had the privilege of hosting one of five different nation-wide listening parties for BORN THIS WAY (available on iTunes, apparently). In addition to avoiding a potential cluster-fuck had the party been set in WeHo, the event planners (Party Monsters?) should be commended for keeping the party 21+. To gain entry, one had to show proof of purchase of Born This Way. So technically, the cover ranged anywhere between $0.99 to $14.99+, making this the first party I’ve been to with a sliding cover charge determined solely by intelligence.
Although Stefani Germanotta never actually showed up (despite the promoter’s efforts to convince us that “Mother Monster Is Closer Than You Think”), rumors that she would grace the party with her divine presence kept throngs of Little Monsters smashed against the stage for almost the entire night. At one point, however, security asked everyone to move back and cleared out a ten-foot space in front of the stage, subsequently throwing the crowd into a state of madness. It was, alas, a false alarm. Hostess Rhea Litre took the stage, turning out an energetic performance of Judas.
DJs Josh Peace and Manny Lehman kept the crowd happy all night with a never-ending Gaga playlist, including the forgotten Heidi Montag cover, Fashion. And considering the degree of look that all the Little Monsters left the house with, it was probably the most befitting song of the entire night.
