169/ KASKADE

Whilst in Chicago, post BMF Music Lounge, I had the opportunity to shoot Kaskade at Smart Bar. And while I was next door the night previous, I was too exhausted post Cut Copy (@cutcopy) to venture over, so instead Chris & I packed up our equipment and headed home. Good move to limit exhaustion, but bad one given that the bar is adorable. On the plus side, retiring early the night previous allowed for me to stay out a bit later and enjoy a MUCH later evening out. Thanks to Ryan for having another awesome set!

168/ FRESH MEAT

Also working on the west coast, was the latest addition to the team Brandon. Having worked with him earlier in the week at MJ’s for George’s birthday fete, I thought the perfect place to have him stretch his wings solo would be in the exact same place – and he did me proud. Dirty Burty took over, and Brandon handled the business. People, check his work below.

167/ CUB SCOUT

While I was across the country in Chicago, specifically at the Metro shooting Cut Copy (@cutcopy) and Dragonette (@dragonette), Aaron was handling the business at The Eagle for Critter Control’s Cub Scout. While I was sad to leave my furries at home, I knew they were in good hands. From what I hear the party was ridiculous, and Ms. Phyliss Navidad looked extra fierce in that short ‘do. Too bad teleportation is still a thing of the future.

166/ FREAK BALL

After landing on a delayed flight into Chicago, I got a much needed drink with CT, CP, and Rachel. Got my baggage settled, then headed over to one of my CHI-town favorites Berlin. Scott and team we already in full party mood by the time I got there, which was perfect cause I could jump right into the madness and begin taking photos of the messy freak show. I literally mean freak show, with glass walkers and Chewbaca en-tow there is no other way to describe the entertainers on hand.
Having Lady Starlight, Gaga’s personal DJ, provide the tunes lead many to suspect that the sunglassed one would make an appearance – she didn’t. Having people ask if she was hidden in the basement was only slightly obnoxious, cause if you’ve seen the basement, you’d know bitch would not be satisfied being stowed away down there. Gaga or not, the party was a blast! It was great to see a few friends, especially since it’d been a while – oh, and great to meet Bertie Blackman, finally. And so Lollapalooza began with a BANG.

165/ PROP 8 REPEALED

I am more then elated that Prop 8 has been repealed and that same sex marriages are to resume in California. Though I was a little too late to attend the rallies in West Hollywood last Wednesday post historic decision, I did get to celebrate with a few friends. The highlight of the evening was when I got to see a family exiting Eleven with their child fully regaled with NOH8 stickers and tattoos. Glad some people are teaching equality from a young age. And though we should celebrate this victory, we must remember that we still need to continue the fight – not everyone, everywhere can get married, YET.

164/ HAPPY BIRTHDAY GEORGE!

Mr. Jaramillo (@georgejaramillo) celebrated his birthday in the fashion one would expect, with porn stars and gogo dancers. I mean, when they permeate all other aspects of his life it’s a given they would run amuck at this his birthday party. The one and only Chi Chi LaRue (@djChiChiLaRue) provided the tunes, and adult film blog-lebrity Jason Sechrest (@jasonsechrest) also came out to play along with many, many stars. With a whose who of the LA porn scene, the names read like a gay man’s wet dream – which is likely why MJ’s hit capacity before midnight.

163/ DUKE GOES BLUE

Randy Blue to be exact. Travis James gathered a few comrades from his adult film company to ‘dance’ at Fubar’s Duke last Saturday, and the outcome, was, well, let’s just say I had to do some heavy editing to get this down to an R rating from NC-17. Aside from Travis, Chip Tanner, Chad Hollon, and newbie Ash Taylor were on hand to titillate the bar goers. Porn stars in underwear, and a drunken combo of Jay Krymis & Cody Bayne hosting, can you say good time? YES. The boys were passing out DVDs and free passes, and as always you can catch their adventures over at the Randy Blue site. Trust, it’s worth the subscription.

162/ FRESH MEAT

While I was with the drag queens, Martin was with the gogos. The typical nearly naked debauchery ensued as it does every Friday night at MJ’s. It should also be noted that this particular evening marked George Jaramillo’s last evening hosting at aforementioned venue. Bummer. The team looks forward to working with him at other venues in the future, he tends to be a good time.

161/ RETURN OF S&G

Friday before last, Shits&Giggles made it’s triumphant return to the gay east-side nightlife scene. Sorry for the lag in recap, but I’ve been rather busy and slightly lazy. The gentle-otters of Critter Control brought in SF legend Steve Fabus to assist in the tune providing process, and Chloe Sevigny, a.k.a. Drew Droege to monologue about how difficult her life is.
In typical fashion the evening was legendary, and the fashion fierce. So glad that my home away from home is back to it’s monthly status.
